From the Tip to the Top of Ireland – A trek on Horseback for Charity

unnamed (2) Esther O’Kane and Amy McGarvey have just crossed Ireland on horseback, hoping to raise money for charity. Esther shares with us their story:

“We have just completed a huge trek from the top of Ireland to the bottom on Horseback. Malin Head to Mizen Head. We have made our way trucking and trekking through 9 counties stopping in nearly every town along the way collecting money on horseback from the people who came to see us and passers by. My own Oreo Cookie horse has gotten quite the reputation after visiting 5 pubs along the way and sampling a pint of Guinness in each!

We hope you enjoy and share our story so we can raise awareness for the wonderful hard work our chosen charities as well as bringing a good news story to the people of Ireland and further.
‘My dream has always been to travel through our beautiful country on horseback and what better way to do it than to make a difference to charities in need whilst promoting the Irish horses and animals in living in Ireland amongst us.
I could not have even attempted to step a hoof out the stable without my cherished friend Amy McGarvey who rode along side me with her stunning mare Holly.
unnamed (1) We want to show not just Ireland but the world that when you look after your animals and love them as much as we do you can achieve anything. We have chosen two fantastic animal charities that achieve miracles everyday in their work. Forgotten Horses Ireland and Animal Heaven Animal Rescue, along with our own personal ode to the Donegal Hospice. ‘

We hope you enjoy our story and we invite you to follow us as we have yet still lots more to do, including a sky dive in July we hope to raise 10,000 euro for our three chosen charities by the end of our campaign.”
