SHOW JUMPING – Irish Add More Placings to Saturday Haul

Following Bertram Allen’s third place finish in today’s (Saturday) opening five-star event at Dinard, France, Irish riders added to the national haul by netting three top-five placings as the day’s major action progressed.
At Hickstead, fancied Trevor Breen went clear first time out in the battle for the Queen Elizabeth 11 Cup riding Old Town Kc, but the pairing had four faults in the jump-off and took fifth place overall.
Brother Shane then kept up the Breens’ impressive record at the British venue, with a clear round in the British Speed Classic on board ten-year-old Reconnaissance, but could not threaten the time of winner Lorenzo De Luca on Homer de Reve who blew away the opposition with a time of 62.00.
Back at Dinard in France, Billy Twomey claimed fifth place despite having four faults in the 1m50 Derby with Diaghilev.
