SHOW JUMPING – ICONIC IRISH SPORT HORSE MO CHROI TAKES FINAL VICTORY AT DUBLIN BEFORE RETIREMENT

iconic horseIN a fitting farewell, the famous 17 year-old Irish Sport Horse Mo Chroi won her final competition before retirement when finishing first in the Speed Championships at the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show on Sunday.

The grey Cruising mare was ridden by the Army Equitation School’s Capt. Michael Kelly and triumphed in a class where Irish riders claimed the top five places.

Ireland’s show jumping manager Robert Splaine said after the competition: “Mo Chroi has made a great contribution to the Irish team over the years and it is appropriate that she should go out with a win like this. She has carried several Army riders to victory over the years, both in Nations’ Cups and Grands Prix, and it is a tribute to the Equitation School that they kept her and produced her so well for so many years. Mo Chroi is a typical example of a great Irish horse.”

Dermott Lennon took second place today on another Irish Sport Horse, Loughview Lou Lou, coming home just over half a second slower than the Army combination.
