It has been confirmed that Missunited has been retired from racing after her valiant winning effort in the Lillie Langtry Stakes. The seven-year-old mare pulled up lame after the race and proved to have strained a suspensory ligament.
She is owned and was bred by Dan and Vanessa Hutch, neighbours of trainer Michael Winters, and will retire to their farm in Co Cork. The daughter of Golan is the last of a line that the family have developed over many years.
She retires as winner of 12 races on the Flat and under NH rules, including the Galway Hurdle, one of Ireland’s most famous handicap hurdles, a year to the day before her Goodwood victory. She has earned some £386,000.
