Three Irish runners are set to run at the Longines Hong Kong International Races in December. It is a must see event in the global racing world with horses from every continent fighting to enhance their reputations. The prize pot is made up of HK$64 million (€7,804,000) which will be divided between four main races.
The three Irish runners include Free Eagle running in the Hong Kong Cup, HK$25 million prize fund (2000m). Free Eagle is a Lightly-raced four-year-old and winner of the G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. Trained by Dermot K Weld. Sole Power running in the Hong Kong Sprint with a prize fund of HK$18.5 million (1200m) Sole Power is a G1 veteran with five wins at top level including G1 Al Quoz Sprint in March. 2nd to Lord Kanaloa in this race in 2013. Trained by Edward Lynam. Highland Reel will be running in the Hong Kong Vase with a prize fund of HK$16.5 million (2400m). Highland Reel won G1 Secretariat Stakes in the USA this past summer and third last start in Australia’s G1 Cox Plate. Trained by Aidan P O’Brien.
