As momentum builds ahead of the first Jumping In The City date on Friday June 5th, a horse jumped fences for the first time on the in-field of Limerick Greyhound Stadium. Representatives from Horse Sport Ireland, Showjumping Ireland and the Irish Greyhound Board, were joined by the Mayor of Clare, John Crowe and Helen Downes from Shannon Chamber, as Joan Greene, who has represented Ireland at Nations Cup level, jumped a number of fences.
Speaking afterwards. Joan Greene commented, “I would have absolutely no problem jumping any of my horses over a big course of fences on this ground here at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. I was amazed that we could jump at all considering it has poured rain for the last five days.”
“The arena is huge which will give the course builder plenty of options, you could have a combination with four or five strides before or after it – there is so much room.”
Jumping In The City begins in Limerick on Friday June 5th, moves to Cork on Friday June 12th, with the series reaching its finale in Shelbourne Park, Dublin on Friday June 26th. All events start at 6.30 and will run to 11pm. with after jumping entertainment provided by Extreme Rhythm, who in the past have performed on X-Factor alongside pop super-star Kelly Clarkson.
