CHAMPION CHASE ON THE HORIZON FOR DERBY SALE GRADUATE AFTER TIED COTTAGE VICTORY

Derby Sale graduate HIDDEN CYCLONE has his sights set firmly on the Champion Chase at Cheltenham after a convincing win in the Grade 2 Tied Cottage Chase at Punchestown yesterday. The ten-year-old looked to be in the form of his life as he settled into jumping and pulled three lengths clear of his rivals to win the contest.

Catalogued at the 2009 Derby Sale, the consistent performer was sold by his breeder Ronald O’Neill’s Whytemount Stud to his trainer John “Shark” Hanlon for €21,000.

At grassroots level, the first Four-Year-old Maiden Point to Point of the year held at The Ward Union venue, The Follys, was won in great style by Derby Sale graduate Gunnery Sergeant for the formidable partnership of Gigginstown House Stud, Gordon Elliott and Jamie Codd.

The son of Presenting was sold at the most recent Derby Sale in 2014 by Larchgrove Stud for €55,000 to Mouse Morris.

The sales season at Tattersalls Ireland starts tomorrow, February 3rd with the February National Hunt Sale. 272 Lots are catalogued in the sale starting at 10am and the catalogue and sale can be viewed online.
